About Me…

I am a mixed media artist, educator, and mother of three, based in Dallas, Texas, with roots in the Devon countryside of England. My work is deeply shaped by a lifelong relationship with making and by the women and makers who came before me. Growing up surrounded by embroidery, dressmaking, lace, watercolor, and handwork, I learned early that creativity can carry memory, comfort, and connection. Those materials and traditions still sit at the heart of my practice today. Each piece I create feels, in some way, like a conversation with both inheritance and identity — holding together the places I have come from and the life I now live.

Working in mixed media allows me to explore contrast with honesty and tenderness. Watercolor brings fluidity, movement, and surrender, while stitching introduces intention, care, and repair. One resists control, the other asks for it, and together they mirror so much of what it means to live, grieve, heal, and grow. My British heritage often finds its way into my work through florals, textiles, and quiet domestic references, while my life in Texas brings a different visual language of boldness, space, and symbol. Through both my art and teaching, I am drawn to the restorative, reflective power of creativity. My hope is that the work I make offers more than something beautiful to look at — that it creates space to pause, to feel, and to reconnect with the deeper parts of ourselves.

The Studio

The Rachel Larlee Studio is in the heart of East Dallas in Casa Linda. The studio opens its doors for classes and workshops. When she's not creating new mixed media pieces, Rachel loves helping other artists grow their creative practice. Rachel moved from England 10 years ago and very much has the English feel in her studio. She displays her work alongside pieces she shipped over and her studio is full of treasures. Rachel is excited for her studio to inspire and encourage; every corner is filled with unusual storage solutions next to the latest in modern home decoration.
